Washington State has plenty of Al-Anon meetings. These meetings offer hope to struggling families because they provide unconditional support, acceptance, and understanding. For many people, this is something that is missing in their lives.
At Al-Anon, the other participants understand the struggle of living with an addict. It is a never-ending source of discouragement, sadness, and pain. But when members share their experiences with each other, they can find great strength in knowing that they are not alone.
Many people don't realize how much help is available for families of drug and alcohol addicts. These addictions have the power to steal so much from you. They zap your energy, and they make it hard for you to even face another day. You'll find a tremendous amount of support through organizations like:
Let's talk about each of these individually.
For families with addicted loved ones, life is often very lonely. They need an outlet, and they need others to share their experiences with. This is what they find at Alanon.

Instead it is an atmosphere of unconditional hope and love. Alanon members meet together on a regular basis to share their stories with one another. Alateen is a part of Al-Anon. Their goal is to provide special support to teenagers and sometimes children of addicts.
Quite often, young people don't feel comfortable sharing amongst adults about their experiences. They may feel too timid, or they might worry that their concerns won't be taken seriously. Alanon is very sensitive to this, which is why Alateen was born.
When children or teens come to Alateen, they're met with a warm and welcoming environment. They're given the chance to speak among their peers, which helps them to cope with their challenges. Alateen has done exceptional work in the lives of children all over the United States.
For those who have attended Al-Anon meetings, they have so many good things to say.
Cindy says, "I grew up in a home where alcoholism was the norm. I guess it makes sense that I ended up being married to an alcoholic. I really thought I could change him after got together. Of course, that didn't work. The love and acceptance I found at Alanon has given me a new perspective on life. It's made me change how I look at things at home. I'm able to cope, and I feel more at peace than ever before."
Susan says, "When I started going to Al-Anon meetings, I felt like I was at the end of my rope. I was so tired of the excuses behind my loved one's addiction. I found that I really didn't understand what she was going through at all. Al-Anon helped me to gain a new understanding. My listening to others tell their stories, I found a lot of hope for the future."
Jack says, "My wife has struggled with drug addiction for as long as I can remember. She hid it from me for the first few months of our marriage. When I found out I was devastated. I didn't know what to do, and she wouldn't agree to get help. Going to an Alanon meeting really helped me to see things differently. It helps to have support from others who are going through the same things. I'm so glad I decided to go, and I don't know where I'd be today without Alanon."

Unfortunately, it's common for addicts to not listen to their concerned loved ones. This can leave you feeling worried, hopeless and lost.
Many people with addictions end up agreeing to drug treatment or alcohol treatment afterwards. Because of this, they have been successful for so many people. It might work well for you too.
There are several types of drug and alcohol rehab centers in Washington State. But please know that there is no one “right way” to get treatment for addiction. People respond to different types of treatment, based on their individual needs.
The following are all examples of common rehab programs in Washington State:
At Northpoint Seattle, we provide our clients with everything they need to successfully recover from their addictions. We are located in Bellevue and Seattle, so our clients can choose the facility that is most convenient for them.
We specialize in providing outpatient addiction treatment services. We offer three levels of care for our clients, and they include traditional outpatient rehab, intensive outpatient treatment and partial hospitalization. We carefully assess every client we work with to determine what level of care is right for them.
In addition to offering in-person appointments and programs for our clients, we also provide online rehab services. We recognize that there may be a number of reasons why our clients may not be able to attend in-person appointments. We do not want that to keep them from getting the help they need.
Our online rehab programs connects our clients with a therapist and it also allows for group therapy. Telehealth has been instrumental in allowing us to reach as many people as possible.
Paying for rehab can be a challenge for some people. It can be quite expensive, depending on the type of care that is needed. Fortunately, most people have health insurance, and their coverage extends to detox and rehab services. But not everyone has insurance, and as a result, they often believe that they cannot afford to get treatment.
