Tacoma, WA Area Drug and Alcohol Addiction Recovery Resource Guide

There are several alcohol and drug addiction recovery resources in the Tacoma, Washington area. The problem is that people often fail to take advantage of them because they do not know they exist. Professional treatment is there to help them if they need it.

Mutual support groups are great for those who are looking for a shoulder to lean on or a sounding board. Groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous are great avenues for getting support. Even families can get the help they need through Al-Anon and Alateen.

We are not affiliated with any of these organizations. Still, we feel it is important to provide a list of the local meetings for someone who needs that information.

Our Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facility

Tacoma is located only 43 minutes away from our facility, the Northpoint Seattle. That makes it a convenient choice for someone who is looking for outpatient drug and alcohol treatment.

Our Closest Outpatient Location:

Our Closest Inpatient Location:

We offer one of the best intensive outpatient programs in the region. We can also offer a referral for those who are in need of medical detox services.

Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers in Tacoma, Washington

There are over 15 alcohol and drug rehab facilities in Tacoma, Washington. Some of these rehab facilities offer outpatient care while others offer inpatient care. These different levels of care will have a strong influence on the amount of commitment that patients must commit to.

When choosing an alcohol or drug rehab center that best fits one’s needs, one must first understand the difference between the different levels of care. Let’s consider the differences between inpatient and outpatient care.

Inpatient care will require patients to move into the rehab facility. This type of addiction treatment program is very intense. Patients will receive supervised medical attention from day to night. They can also reach out to addiction expert, counselors, therapists and more whenever they need additional support and help.

Outpatient rehab programs, on the other hand, provide the same type of evidence-based treatment approaches. The only difference is that patients do not need to move into the rehab facility. In general, outpatient recovery programs tend to be cheaper in comparison to inpatient recovery programs.

Northpoint Seattle Offers Excellent Outpatient Treatment Programs

Northpoint Seattle offers outpatient addiction treatment programs only. This type of addiction treatment program is most ideal for those who do not have the means and the resources to move into an alcohol and drug treatment center. Outpatient programs also allow for a lot more flexibility.

Those who are interested in getting admitted to an outpatient program will find all that they need with us. We are able to offer three different levels of outpatient care. They include:

  • A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). This type of outpatient treatment is the most intense type available. Patients will receive 6 hours of treatment a day for 5 days a week. This type of program gives patients the ability to spend their free time at home while also receiving a high level of care. Patients can enjoy alcohol and drug detox services, behavioral therapies and more.
  • An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Patients who are interested in an IOP will typically already have completed an inpatient program or a PHP. These programs offer anywhere from 10 to 15 hours of treatment a week.
  • A traditional Outpatient Program (OP). This type of treatment is most ideal for those who have responsibilities at home or at school. With an OP, patients can decide how many hours they’d like to commit to treatment.

Our treatment facility has Joint Commission Accreditation. This means that we are able to meet certain standards to provide a high quality of care.

Those who are more interested in an inpatient treatment program should consider looking at the drug and alcohol recovery programs offered by one of our sister facilities -- Northpoint Washington

Inpatient treatment is best for those who struggle with a severe addiction or for those who are at risk of relapsing. In general, inpatient addiction treatment facilities will take anywhere from 28 to 90 days to complete. On the other hand, an outpatient addiction treatment program can take months to complete.

Northpoint Washington is located in Seattle. Many of our patients will receive inpatient care from this facility before finally transitioning to Northpoint Seattle.

Some of our patients will also transition from one type of outpatient program to another. Many patients will start off with a PHP before transitioning to an IOP and then an OP. Those who need additional assistance even after completing an OP can move onto a sober living arrangement.

Health Insurance Coverage for Addiction Treatment

Many people are hesitant to get addiction treatment because they’re unsure of how much it may cost. Some inpatient rehab centers can cost upwards of $80,000 if they offer luxury addiction treatment services.

Fortunately, all health insurance plans will cover the cost of addiction treatment thanks to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The amount of coverage that each policy covers will vary. Those who pay higher premiums will tend to have more coverage. They may be covered for more days or may have more choice over the type of addiction treatment that they receive.

Here, at Northpoint Seattle, we will verify your insurance information for you. We deal with all of the red tape, so you can focus on the one thing that matters -- your recovery!
