Drug and Alcohol Detox Programs Near Yakima, WA

Detox is a crucial step in the recovery process. This is the stage where the addict stops using and allows their body to flush out all of the chemicals.

When someone uses drugs or drinks heavily for a long period of time, these substances accumulate in their body. So, they have to get rid of them before they can get sober.

Sometimes, this process is uncomfortable. The addict may experience withdrawal symptoms like nausea and anxiety. In rare cases, they may experience seizures. If someone tries to quit cold turkey at home, they may put their safety at risk.

So, it’s important for addicts to withdraw under the supervision of a medical professional. This is why medical detox is such a valuable resource.

There are several professional detox centers in the Yakima area. Each of these centers aims to help addicts withdraw in the safest, most comfortable environment. The doctors on-staff do their best to minimize withdrawal symptoms and ensure the addict’s safety as they detoxify.

If you’ve decided it’s time to quit drinking or using drugs, drug detox is the first step.

Most insurance providers pay for drug detox. It can often be a part of your total addiction treatment program. This is especially true if you’ve opted for inpatient rehab. You would just transition right from detox into the therapy portion of addiction recovery. Outpatient facilities will work with detox centers to ensure you can first go through this initial stage. Detox is an important part of recovery but it shouldn’t stop there.

Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs Near Yakima, WA

Rehab is another critical step in recovery. Professional rehab treatment centers help the addict to transition from addiction to sobriety.

This transition is not always easy. When someone tries to rehabilitate alone, they increase the risk of relapsing. Professional rehab programs teach addicts relapse prevention techniques. The techniques help them to avoid drug use.

Rehab also helps the addict to come to terms with their past. Patients meet regularly with therapists and counselors to unpack their psychological history. This helps the addict to understand why they gravitate toward substance abuse and what triggers them to use. By understanding these things, addicts are better able to cope with stress and triggering situations.

There are several different types of rehab. Some programs are inpatient rehab programs. Others are intensive outpatient programs. Depending on the addict’s lifestyle, schedule, and responsibilities, either of these types might work for them.

Yakima is home to some of the best rehab centers in Washington State. If you or a loved one is trying to get sober, we recommend that you make rehab treatment a part of your recovery plan. There are about 10 different addiction treatment facilities in Yakima. They include inpatient and outpatient options.

There are various types of rehab programs because everyone has different needs. If you need flexibility but still need intensive addiction treatment, an Intensive Outpatient Program is likely a suitable choice. At Northpoint Seattle, we have two different locations for our outpatient programs. They are located in Bellevue and Seattle.

We’ve designed our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in a way that you’re getting the same quality of treatment you would with inpatient rehab. The difference is that it’s more convenient for you, offering you flexibility. We can work your treatment around your work and life schedule.

Trying to find a good rehab center? Our drug addiction treatment program or alcoholism treatment program might be what you’re looking for.

When you come for treatment, which is usually 3-5 times a week for a few hours, you will be welcomed without judgment into our modern facility. We do an assessment and create a program specifically for your needs. This is what you’ll experience through our IOP:

  • We’re going to connect you with people that will support you throughout your addiction recovery.
  • Through group sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to speak with other addicts that are going through what you are.
  • We create structure in your life, which makes it easier to manage addiction recovery and move past it.
  • We make you accountable for your actions. This has proven to be highly motivating for those working through addiction.
  • You will learn about your addiction and why it happened. This is an important step to overcoming addiction.
  • You’ll be given the tools to work with addiction recovery. One of the reasons people relapse is because there are emotional triggers that cause abuse. We give you the skills to work through these triggers in your day to day life.
  • You’ll get high quality counseling and personal mentoring.

It is often recommended that you go through inpatient rehab first. This is especially true if you have more than just a mild addiction. Many people will go through a personalized drug or alcohol residential rehab and then move on to an IOP. Northpoint Seattle has an inpatient rehab facility in Seattle.

The Cost of Addiction Treatment In Yakima, WA

The cost of addiction treatment varies on the type of program you decide on. Detox itself is often up to $5,000. From there, it’s important to take part in a rehab program. Inpatient programs are the more expensive option with outpatient programs costing the least amount. An IOP sits in the middle of the two in terms of cost.

The good news is that your insurance is likely to cover some or all of your drug or alcohol rehab program. In fact, they’re obligated to give you some form of coverage.

Narcotics Anonymous: A Support Network for Drug Addicts

Narcotics Anonymous, also known as “NA”, is an organization that helps drug addicts get clean. It holds free meetings every day in nearly every city in the U.S.

In these meetings, recovering addicts get together to bond over the shared experience of addiction. They discuss how drugs affected their lives and what they’re doing to get better. Meetings are a great place for addicts to connect with other people who’ve lived through a similar situation.

NA does not privilege any one drug over another. In a typical meeting, you’ll find heroin addicts, cocaine addicts, and crystal meth addicts. Some people are addicted to prescription pills and others are addicted to marijuana.

The group doesn’t care what a person’s drug of choice happens to be. They simply want to help everyone get sober.

Alcoholics Anonymous, or “AA”, is another popular support group. In fact, it’s one of the oldest and most well-attended in the world. Over its 75-year history, AA has helped endless amounts of people overcome their drinking habits.

Like NA, this organization holds open meetings. Unlike NA, however, AA caters specifically to people who suffer from alcohol addiction. Their meetings are filled with people from all walks of life who come together to help each other live sober lives.

The AA community in Yakima is strong and vibrant. Its members are always eager to meet new people. So, if you or a loved one is struggling with alcohol addiction, this could be a great resource.

SMART Recovery: An Alternative to the Twelve Steps

SMART Recovery is a popular alternative to AA and NA. It offers a similar type of group support and has thousands of members around the country.

In many ways, it’s similar to the Anonymous programs. But, it’s also very different. For example, this program does not use the same 12-step model that AA and NA do.

Instead, it operates around a 4-point program. Whereas the Twelve Steps ask members to turn themselves over to a “higher power”, SMART takes a more scientific, non-spiritual approach to recovery.

Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous are valuable for many people. However, they don’t work for everyone. If you’ve tried working the Steps but found them to be ineffective, SMART might be a better option for you.

There is a large SMART community in Seattle. If you’re unable to drive that far, check out this meeting:

Al-Anon: Support for Families and Friends

Al-Anon is a support group that offers family support to the loved ones of addicts. After all, the addict isn’t the only one who suffers from their condition. Their spouses, children, parents, and siblings are affected, too.

Oftentimes, these people are forced to suffer in silence. They worry about their addicted family member. They lose sleep. They get angry, depressed, and feel guilty. But, too often, they have no one to discuss these feelings with.

This organization gives people a place where they can go to share their emotions. For many family members, it’s helpful to connect with others who share the same experience. Al-Anon members talk about their lives and help each other cope with the painful reality of loving an addict.
